What do you do at Customer Portfolios?

I am a Team Lead of the Data Engineering team. We are responsible for implementation of our clients’ data mart and customer analytics platform for their marketing services. We integrate data from our clients’ different sources like POS, web, etc. This data mart also works as a core source for our different products like Portfolio Pathing and MARCIE, and it gives our clients a full view of their customer profiles. Being a team lead, I supervise the Data Engineering team including monitoring their tasks, training, coaching and mentoring.

What is your favorite family tradition?

My favorite family tradition is celebrating Diwali, a five-day festival of lights. It has been a yearly tradition for our family to get together at my Grandpa’s house, where I get to meet my all cousins and family members. We lighten up the whole house with candles and lights together, make sweets and Rangoli together, make fire crackers and much more. Being in this country, we are trying to follow our traditions. We do meet here with my cousins, brothers and my family members and follow the same traditions, but of course I don’t have my Grandpa’s house here.

If you could witness any historical event, what would you want to see?

Honestly, I believe in living in the present; I never want to go back to the past. But if I were to witness any historic event, I would want to witness Gandhi's Indian Independence movement. India became independent from the British Empire, and it was one of the epic struggles in Indian history. I wish I could go back to 15th August 1947, India Independence Day, and meet Mahatma Gandhi. What a proud moment it was; Respect to Mahatma Gandhi, a great leader!!

Who was your first celebrity crush?

Sonu Nigam, a great Indian musician, singer, composer, and actor. I was in 9th grade when I first had a crush on him. I used to listen his songs all day long, especially the romantic songs. He was a cute, handsome singer back then, and he is still now. He has recorded all different genres of songs like romantic, rock, sad, and patriotic, and he has recorded them in many of the different languages of India.

What does true leadership mean to you?

True leaders work together with the people they lead, to get to know and care about their team. Working with people allows leaders to boost and inspire their team. A true leader listens and is willing to hear what others have to say, without making any judgements. They know their team and themselves well, and they always maintain a positive attitude.

If you were to tell one person "Thank You" for helping me become the person I am today, who would it be and what did they do?

My parents - I thank my parents who raised me to be independent, ambitious, respectful and honest, and thank you for the all your sacrifices. They gave me a chance to learn and let me do what I wanted to achieve. They have always supported me in my education, my career, and have always respected my decisions. They know and respect my strengths and weaknesses. Thank you for helping me become the person I am today.

What has been your biggest challenge at Customer Portfolios so far?

The biggest challenge here is working on client’s customized needs while still following the best practices. Even though we have some standards across clients, we always try to implement each client’s specific needs. Sometimes we have limited knowledge of part of the request, but we will never say no to our client. We learn as a team and make our clients happy by giving them the best technical solution, and that is what makes Customer Portfolios, myself, and my team successful.

Stay tuned for next month’s Humans of CP, where we will speak with someone who is able to take our client’s data and analyze it to create actionable insights.
